Cancellation of 14-day quarantine in Russia

From July 15, 2020, the Russian authorities have decided to abolish the mandatory 14-day isolation for those who enter the country. To do this, the visitor must have a medical document in English or Russian, confirming a negative test for COVID-19. Foreigners will be able to provide a certificate of the PCR test, passed no earlier than three days before arrival in the country, and documents on the presence of immunoglobulin G antibodies (if any).

If a visitor does not have such a document, he will be obliged to take a virus test in Russia within three days. The testing procedure will take place on a paid basis.

Similar rules will apply to Russian citizens who intend to return to their homeland. If their coronavirus test results are positive, they will need to self-isolate at their place of residence until they recover and receive negative coronavirus test results. The decree notes that while on self-isolation, it is necessary to exclude contact with family members who are not infected with COVID-19.

A 14-day quarantine can also be maintained for Russians returning from countries with an unfavorable epidemic situation. If citizens do not have test results for COVID-19, then they will be placed in an observatory until a negative test result.

If you need any assistance with Russian visas, supporting documents, or any other travel questions, contact us and stay safe.

Best travel tips to make a long flight bearable

Long distance traveling is in trend now – more and more travelers tend to explore the world overseas, which makes their flights longer and more challenging.

So we gathered all our experience to make the list of the best travel hacks you can keep in mind when you go for a long flight.

Give your preference to morning flights

Give yourself a chance not to make your long flight even longer. All the delays throughout the day tend to build up by the evening, so it is highly advised to travel in the morning.

Get to the airport early...

...unless you checked-in online 24 hours prior to your flight. But if you didn’t, being late to the airport will be not only stressful, but also you may get the least comfortable seat. In this case your long flight will be just unbearable.

Don’t forget a portable charger

In most cases long flights are pretty entertaining with movies, etc. However, if you are using your own gadgets, you better be prepared. It is actually even recommended to bring your own entertainment in case if your plane cannot offer you any.

Stay hydrated

Long flights are not a good impact on our bodies. Water is the best option oppose to tea or coffee. Other than that, bring your own reusable water bottle, which you can refill at the airport.

Make sure you won’t get turned around on the border

That will definitely make your long flight the worst experience of your life! Check the visa situation for your destination country! ETA, visas on arrival, or even powerful passports in their pockets can make some travelers too self-confident that they are all set for the landing. We do encourage all travelers to check if they need a travel visato reach their desired destination.

Cathay Pacific is ending the daily flight route Vancouver – New York City

One of the most popular flights between North America’s two coasts will be discontinued. No more daily flights from YVR to JFK by Cathay Pacific starting from April 2020.

After 23 years of operation, the flight from the Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to JFK service (with a stop at YVR) will no longer exist. According to official reports, this decision has been made since this route has been unprofitable for Cathay Pacific for years because of increased competition from non-stop flights from Hong Kong to New York City.

If you are willing to travel to New York City from Vancouver and try one of the most enjoyable flights, you still have almost eight months to do so. If you have a Canadian Permanent Residency or staying in Vancouver on any temporary visa, check if you need a visa to travel to the USA and use your chance to explore a little bit more.

Current COVID-19 travel problems for residents and citizens returning to Canada

Main COVID-19 outbreak travel issues and what you should do based on your status when returning to Canada.

As the COVID-19 preventative measures are getting stricter in almost every country, many travellers are facing issues such as flight cancelations, border crossing, and imposed self-isolation, not to mention the huge impact the coronavirus is having on businesses.

The Canadian border is now closed for foreign nationals who are not residents or citizens. Therefore, having your travel documents in order is a smart and responsible approach, if you are trying to return home safely.

We, at AnyVisa, are committed to helping Canadian Permanent Residents, who have issues with their PR cards, get back to Canada. And, of course, other foreign travelers, who require consular assistance to go to their home countries, can rely on AnyVisa for travel document support.

Summarizing the Canadian government’s measures, including the border closure, here is the current situation:

1 – If you are a Temporary Resident traveling to Canada:

  • Such as a Canadian tourist visa holder, student visa holder, or work visa holder, you will not be able to come to Canada until further notice by the authorities.

Entering Canada, staying in Canada and other recent updates on travel during COVID

These travel updates are for those who are stuck in Canada due to the pandemic, or can’t wait when Canada lifts its travel restrictions for foreign travelers.

Canada’s Immigration system has been impacted greatly for the past few months. The good news: things are slowly improving.

We would divide the most popular requests that we are getting from our customers into 2 major groups:

  • Requests from those non-residents who are stuck in Canada because of COVID-19;
  • Requests from foreign travelers waiting to come into Canada.

For the first group - it is possible to prolong their legal stay in Canada, as long as all of the documents are well prepared and there is no hidden motive for extending their stay in Canada.

The very recent update from the Government of Canada was announced on July 14, 2020, saying that former workers, students and visitors who remained in Canada, and whose status expired after Jan 30, 2020, will now have extended time to apply until Dec 31, 2020, to restore their status. To find out if you are eligible to apply, contact us.

As for the second group of requests – people are patiently waiting for the borders to re-open for non-essential travel. We have covered in detail the rules for Temporary Residents, Permanent Residents, and Canadian Citizens coming to Canada in our previous blog.

So, who can currently enter Canada?

  • Canadian citizens,
  • Permanent residents,
  • and immediate family members of a Canadian citizen or Permanent resident.

For all other foreign nationals to be eligible to enter Canada, they must meet 2 requirements:

  • They must be traveling for an essential purpose;
  • They must be eithertraveling directly from the US or exempt from travel restrictions.

These measures are in effect until at least August 21, 2020, for travelers coming directly from the US, and July 31, 2020, for all other foreign nationals. The best way to discuss your options in the current situation is by contacting us.

Can you apply for a Canadian Visa meanwhile?

The answer is YES! We can still assist you with Canadian Tourist Visa applications, Student/Work Permits, Business Immigration, PNP, Family Sponsorship files, etc.

What is going to happen next – no one can predict, but we are hoping for the best and will keep you posted on Government Updates. We post travel and immigration updates weekly on our YouTube channel. Subscribe to get recent updates, or contact us directly.

Travel tips for a road trip to the USA

When you are on a road trip, expect unexpected things to happen to you. Even if you have planned everything and it seems like you are all set, well, you are not!

1 - Wi-Fi is really HARD to find! Surprisingly, but turns out that in Canada we are spoiled with Wi-Fi access almost everywhere. In the US you have more chances to find Wi-Fi at a fast food cafe in the middle of nowhere, but not in restaurants or cafeterias where you would actually expect to connect to Wi-Fi. So, if you travel without roaming and have an urgency to contact your family or check your email, don't ignore the closest Starbucks.

2 - Bring CASH. Yes, in 99% cases you'll be able to pay by a credit card, but it's not guaranteed that it won't be unexpectedly declined, and you won't know why.

3 - If you booked your accommodation through EXPEDIA, always contact the hotel before heading there and confirm that they have your booking.
