    Brazil′s Work visa requirements:

This visa is for nationals who wish to work under a Brazilian-ruled employment contract; provide technical assistance (engineer, geologists and etc); internship immediately following the conclusion of undergraduate or graduate studies in Brazil or for the purpose of teaching English or another foreign language; medical residence.

Before you submit this applications, the inviting company in Brazil or hiring company must request a permit directly in Brazil through the Ministry of Labor. Once you obtain the permit, you will be eligible to apply for this visa. Please do not send any document before obtaining the permit from the Ministry of Labor.

    Documents required:

    1. Original valid passport blank visa pages.
    2. Completed and signed visa application.
    3. One recently taken original colour photo (2"x 2'')
    4. Police clearance certificate (non-fingerprint. Name check only) from RCMP or local police.
    5. Non-Canadian nationals should submit a proof of their status in Canada (copy of PR card or work permit)
    6. Work authorization requested by the company in Brazil to the Ministry of Labor is required prior to visa application. To follow-up on the status of your work permit request, visit Ministry of Labor's website.

An emergency visa V may be promptly granted, for up to 30 days (with no possibility of extension), under exceptional circumstances at the Consulate's discretion. The Consulate General will consider such applications when it is evident that the applicant's immediate presence in Brazil is essential to remedy emergency and/or unforeseen situations.

The nature of the situation must be clearly and concisely explained on the employer's letter. Routine services obviously do not qualify for this type of visa. The Consulate General otherwise informs that such emergency visas, even under the most exceptional of circumstances, cannot be granted more than once in six months.

Interns and volunteers are prohibited from holding any paid job in Brazil.

For extended stays (a minimum of 6 months) the same type of visa can be issued to immediate family members. Those are, however, prohibited from engaging in any paid activity in Brazil.

Medical or dental services can only be provided, on any circumstances, once the proper authorization by the Conselho de Medicina is issued.

This visa is good for multiple entries within the visa's duration. If necessary, a visa extension may be issued by the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the authorized stay (restrictions apply). Internships and medical residence visas are not eligible for extension.

Whenever the planned stay exceeds 90 days, registration with the Federal Police in Brazil is mandatory within 30 days from first arrival in the country.

Yellow fever vaccination is highly recommended if the applicant's destination in Brazil include any of the following States: Acre, Amapa, Amazonas, Bahia, Espirito Santo, Federal District, Goias, Maranhao, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Para, Piaui, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondonia, Roraima, Sao Paulo, Santa Catarina and Tocantins.

Polio vaccination is mandatory for children between 3 months-old and 6 years-old.

    Brazil′s Transit visa requirements:

Transit visas are for connecting flights/ships and are not suitable for tourism.
You do not require a transit visa if the trip is continuous and you do not leave the international transit area, which has no access to check-in counters, food court, etc. Otherwise, a transit visa is required.
A transit visa is required whenever the trip involves different airlines that do not have a flight-sharing agreement.
Due to the limited validity of the transit visa (valid for a single entry only), we recommend that all passengers that require a transit visa apply for a tourist visa instead.
