The press service of the Ministry of Development of the Far East of Russia has reported the statistics of the issued electronic visas to Russia. Due to the new changes and the simplified visa regime in the Freeport of the city of Vladivostok, the number of the issued visas has increased. According to the statistics, more than 500 eVisa applications to Russia have been approved for citizens of 13 countries including Morocco (72 visas) and Algeria (48 visas). The leaders of Russian eVisa approvals have become China (221 visas) and Japan (147 visas).
With the new simplified visa regime, foreign citizens are now allowed to get electronic single-entry visas (for humanitarian, tourist and business purposes). So far more than 46 people including Japanese, Chinese and Saudi Arabia citizens have already entered the Russian Far East within their eVisas.
There are two border crossing points in Vladivostok visitors with eVisas can go through, Knevichi International Airport and the sea checkpoint. Next year some more sea, railway, and automobile checkpoints are planned to be opened. Also, due to the plan, since January 1, 2018, electronic visas will be available in the territories of the Sakhalin region and Kamchatka.
